Ski center Horní Domky - Lysá hora

Ski center Horní Domky spreads out over the southern slopes of Lysá hora [Lysá Mountain] at an elevation of 630 to 1,315 above-sea-level. By way of comparison with others, it is one of the best ski locations in the Czech Republic in terms of its position, exemplary ski slopes and facilities. It is mainly popular for its large diversity and extent of its downhill courses.

Here you’ll find trails at all levels of difficulty – Blue, Red and Black in an overall length of 11.4 km (detailed description of trails on the information board). Of course, all slopes are groomed daily. The modern Kässbohrer snow grooming vehicles guarantee such consistent service. For difficult maintenance on steep slopes, the center is equipped with two ski Ratracs with winch. This year a new Ratrac was purchased for grooming parking areas. Aside from other uses, it will be used for grooming the snow park located near the lower ski lift terminal at Lysá Mountain. The Snowpark is equipped with several jumps, various barriers and small T-bar lift (A 8). It is mainly popular amongst Freestyle enthusiasts.

Ski Center Horní Domky provides skiers and snowboarders an overall carrying capacity of 7,720 persons/hour thanks to its four-seat chairlift and six T-bar lifts (detailed list descriptions on the information board). The new Horní Domky chairlift was built just this year. It leads from the corner of the parking lot “u Rokytky” to the cottage Lovčenka. The other chairlift on Lysá Mountain, which was built in 1996. It is unique for the fact that it is the only one in the Czech Republic leading to the 1st zone of KRNAP. This is obviously accompanied by various negative aspects, such as the fact that summer operation of the chairlift is prohibited. Its final terminal is the loading spot on the cross-country trail called “Krkonošská magistrála”. The company Spartak Rokytnice a.s. maintains the cross-country trail, 36 km in length, which links up to the adjacent maintained trail. In the area of Rokytnice and Ski Center Horní Domky, cross-country ski lovers may enjoy trails totaling just under 57 km in length.

The center is equipped with man-made snow makers. If there isn’t enough snow cover, 7 snow cannons and 11 bars provide snow cover on 90% of trails. The center features its own active Ski Patrol, whose job is to protect unruly skiers and snowboarders from off-trail skiing, especially in the 1st zone of KRNAP. For the center, eight employees have been trained with the in KRNAP administration with the title of conservationist. These employees are authorized to issue block citations of up to CZK 1,000. The Ski Patrol began due to KRNAP administration, which made its creation a condition for allowing reasonable snowboarders onto Lysá Mountain. Providing snowboarders with permission here for an indefinite period depends on their behavior and that of the skiers as well.

The center offers other services that are available either right in the center or within close proximity. There are ski equipment rental shops and service centers, restaurants, fast food stands, ski lessons, paragliding, mountain service, Ski Bus.

Parking is provided at three central parking lots. Two of them bring skiers close by to the Ski Bus area.

At the ticket offices, it is possible to pay cash or by credit card. There is a CZK 100 deposit on chip cards.

This five-star center is a member of SKIREGION CZ. A one-day lift ticket may be used in the centers Studenov and Modrá Hvězda – in the pricelist labeled R. Bodové and multi-day lift tickets (2-7 days), it is valid at all members of SKIREGION CZ – in the pricelist labeled SR.
