Bozkov dolomite caves  (18 km)

The Bozkov dolomite caves lie on the northern hillside of the Bozkov village in a hilly landscape of the Giant Mountains. The entrance to the underground was discovered by miners during extraction of dolomite in the 40's of the 20th century, but the underground system of fissure-like corridors, partly flooded by water, was discovered as late as in 1957.

The Bozkov dolomite caves form a labyrinth of underground corridors and cavities located not deep below the ground. Its characteristic and in accessible caves unique feature is silica ledges projecting out of the walls and ceilings. Some cavities are also filled with stalactite and stalagmite decoration. Besides classical shapes, there are also many stalactites and stalagmites of interesting eccentric shapes. Another attractive feature of the tour is small underground lakes with pellucid blue-green water.

The Bozkov dolomite caves are the only accessible caves in Northern Bohemia. There are protective conditions according to the Act on protection of nature and landscape applied to the area of the caves and the underground areas.
